Altamont Death Due to Injuries from Fall

The death of a St. Elmo man was due to injuries received from a fall.

The body of 46-year-old Dean Buzzard was found in the parking lot next to 112 West Adams Street in Altamont just before 6am Friday. Investigators learned that Buzzard had been on a patio on the roof of the building next to where he was found.

An autopsy was conducted Saturday afternoon to determine the cause of Buzzard's death. Toxicology test results and a final autopsy report are expected in six to eight weeks.

The investigation continues by Altamont Police Department, Effingham County Coroner's Office and Illinois State Police.
