Two Crashes in City Over Weekend Involved Injuries

A pedestrian was injured when struck by a vehicle over the weekend.

The incident occurred at 8:42pm Saturday at Henrietta and Richland. City police say the pedestrian, 53-year-old Lawrence Luke of Effingham, walked into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle driven by 73-year-old Ronald Seiler of Effingham.

Luke was taken by private vehicle to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. No citations were issued.

The incident was one of two involving a trip to the hospital over the weekend.

The other incident occurred during the noon hour Sunday south of the intersection of St. Anthony and Banker. The crash occurred at 12:47pm when a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Gina Hardiek of Effingham sideswiped a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Ryan Foss of Effingham.

A passenger in Foss' vehicle, 36-year-old Sharon Davis of Effingham was taken to St. Anthony's for examination. No citations were issued.
