Stewardson-Strasburg and Windsor school officials continue to work toward a co-operative agreement in almost every sport for the 2015-16 school year.

Mark Giertz of Stew-Stras and Erik VanHoveln of Windsor have been meeting to review conduct policies and admission fees as well as related items. Stew-Stras Superintendent Michele Lindenmeyer said the agreement could be voted on at their July meeting.

The same sports co-op'd in the past school year will be co-op'd in the coming school year, but high school boys basketball, high school volleyball and boys and girls track will be also be co-op'd as of the 2015-16 school year. The exceptions will be junior high basketball and junior high volleyball, which will remain separate.

The change will include decisions on new colors and a new mascot. Students in both districts will vote during the coming school year.

In the meantime, Stew-Stras is also looking at ways to co-operate with the Neoga district in certain areas. If the proposal is finalized, Stew-Stras athletes will be able to participate on the Neoga cross country squad. Also, Neoga has made a bus bay available so Stew-Stras can make repairs to their buses there.

The Board discussed moving the 8th grade promotion exercise to the daytime so younger students would be present for the ceremony, but a few residents attended the meeting to ask the ceremony remain unchanged, so no changes will be made. Board members also approved an amended budget for the fiscal year.

Lindenmeyer reported that tuckpointing and facia and soffitt work continues on the gym exterior, and that a grant was received to provide a salad bar at lunchtime in an effort to make more healthy choices available. The Board also heard that a grant was received to purchase 10 new computers capable of running accounting software in the high school business lab. 130 computers and 25 flat screens were purchased to place in labs as part of a multi-year project to upgrade all computer units.
