St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital  has announced that Ashley Martin (RT(R) CT, VI), a Cardiovascular Services technologist, recently achieved certification in Vascular-Interventional (VI) Radiography.

To be eligible for this certification, Martin had to perform over 200 interventional procedures, some of which had to be performed at other facilities to allow a broad exposure to various studies. She then sat for a written exam by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), covering various didactic and clinical concepts in Interventional Radiology (IR) and Peripheral Vascular Intervention (PVI) care.

Jami Davis, St. Anthony's Cardiovascular Services manager, said of Martin's accomplishment. "Ashley is just one of only 54 people in the state that has this credentialing and is one of 2,202 in the US. By achieving this certification, Ashley can provide a level of expertise to our physicians that non-certified staff at other facilities cannot."

"This not merely about her taking an exam but also by taking the time to learn what is necessary to do so. Ashley's certification in Vascular Interventions proves her competence in performing various peripheral interventional and interventional radiology procedures. We are so proud of her for this achievement, especially considering that the success rate for passing the exam on the first attempt is only 30 percent, which she achieved," Davis said.
