Dieterich Junior/Senior High School Principal Kevin Haarmann and District Superintendent Cary Jackson talked with Dieterich school board members this week about the proposed Effingham County Construction Occupations Program.

Construction Occupations is a two-year program through Lake Land College, open to Effingham County junior and senior class students. The classes would be hosted at a central location, most likely in Effingham, and would be set to begin in the 2015-16 school year. Final details are being developed.

The Dieterich board heard from Lee Goeckner and Dieterich Mayor Brad Hardiek regarding proposed improvements to the village park, including drainage improvements as well as sidewalk additions. The Board also accepted a recommendation from Haarmann and elementary principal Kathy Pattenaude switch Math curricula and approved the purchase of the Saxon Math curriculum.

Dieterich board members approved an amended budget for the fiscal year, and acted on some resignations, including Scott Kocher as head high school softball coach, Charlene Rose as high school assistant girls basketball coach and head junior high girls basketball coach, and Brant Nohren as head junior high boys basketball coach.
