Prior to Thursday night's rains, there was growing concern over the availability of water and the long-term prognosis for adequate water supplies.  News Director Greg Sapp and Videographer Wayne Moran met with Effingham City Administrator Jim Arndt and City Director of Public Works Steve Miller Friday morning to discuss the status of Effingham's water supply...

Miller said Lake Sara is down about 24 inches from normal pool.  He said that compares to a drop of 7-1/2 feet seen during a drought in the 1980s and a drop of 1-1/2 feet during a normal summer.

Miller did mention that the City is taking steps to conserve water, having discontinued the flushing of hydrants.
