A man was injured Monday evening when the motorcycle he was riding struck the Johnson Funeral Home building in downtown Effingham.

City police say the cycle was traveling on 4th Street at Section Avenue at 7:10pm when the cycle operated by 24-year-old Jovan DeSantos of Effingham hit the curb and ran off the street, striking the north side of the funeral home building along Section Avenue.

DeSantos was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

City police cited DeSantos on counts of operating a motorcycle on one wheel, violation of classification to operate a motorcycle and improper lane usage.

There was no damage to the building.
