Entries Sought for Fair Queen, Junior Miss Pageants

Young ladies are being sought for the Effingham County Fair Queen Pageant and Junior Miss Pageant.

Those ages 16 to 21 are needed to participate in the Fair Queen Pageant, to be held Tuesday, August 5.

Contestants will be judged on their personal interview, physical fitness in a swimsuit, and poise in an evening gown.  No entry fee or talent portion of the competition is required.

The winner will receive a cash scholarship, plus numerous other prizes and an all-expense-paid weekend to compete for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair Queen in January in Springfield.

An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 7:30pm at Christ's Church, 2511 Veterans Drive in Effingham.  Practices will be held on Thursday evenings in June and July.

The Effingham Junior Miss Pageant directors are seeking contestants in grades 6, 7 and 8 to compete for the title of Junior Miss Effingham County Fair.

Categories of competition include casual wear, party wear, and interview.  Judges will also be looking for poise, personality and leadership within her school and community.  No talent portion is required.

The Effingham County Fair Board and local merchants award cash, plus numerous prizes, including a crown, sash and plaque.  

The pageant will be held on Saturday, August 2.  An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 6:30pm at Christ's Church.
