The murder trial of Ted Yoder is set to begin with jury selection next Monday morning.

The 53-year-old Yoder is charged with three counts of first degree murder in the stabbing death of Ted Debany of Effingham on May 7, 2013 outside the home they shared with Yoder's sister.

Several motions were argued by State's Attorney Bryan Kibler and Public Defender Scott Schmidt before Judge Kimberly Koester.  Generally, the motions dealt with the defense's intention to pursue a self-defense theory, Yoder being granted his Miranda rights, autopsy photos, prior convictions, and hearsay evidence.

Kibler also asked Judge Koester to instruct Yoder that if he's found guilty of any of the murder counts, the State will be seeking a sentence of natural life in prison.

Jury selection will begin Monday morning.  Yoder remains in custody in Effingham County Jail.
