A Vandalia man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex crimes in Shelby County.

38-year-old Eric Cuttill pleaded guilty to a Class X felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault and to a Class 1 felony count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Shelby County State's Attorney Gina Vonderheide said Cuttill was given a 10-year prison sentence on each count, and the sentences will be served consecutively to each other meaning 20 years in prison if no good time accrues.

Cuttill will be on mandatory supervised release for three years to life as determined by the Parole Board.  Cuttill will be required to register for life as a sex offender.
