A trucker has been found dead in his rig in an Effingham parking lot.

Effingham city police were asked for assistance Wednesday afternoon by a local police department in Georgia.  The Georgia officials asked city police to look for a tractor-trailer and driver that had failed to arrive at a destination in northern Illinois.

Effingham police located the truck parked on a private parking lot near the Fayette Avenue interstate interchange.  An unresponsive male subject was found inside the tractor-trailer rig and Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey's office was notified.  A coroner's office representative pronounced the man dead at the scene at 5pm Wednesday.

A cause of death was not determined, and an autopsy was scheduled for this afternoon.  No foul play is suspected.

The identity of the man is being withheld by authorities until they notify family members.

Effingham Police Department and the Effingham County Coroner's Office are continuing their investigation into the death.
