Details are now available concerning a collision along US Route 40 between Effingham and Teutopolis Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 7:33am.  City police report a pickup truck driven by 78-year-old Kenneth Hardiek of Teutopolis rear-ended a SUV driven by 30-year-old Kristen Mette of Dieterich in front of Sloan Implements.

Mette was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for examination, and Hardiek declined treatment.

Hardiek was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
