Three Injured in Sunday Crash in City; Man Injured in Separate Scooter Accident

Three people were injured in a crash in Effingham Sunday evening. City police reported the crash today.
The crash occurred at 6pm at the intersection of Fayette Avenue and Outer Belt West. A vehicle driven by 16-year-old Cody Heuerman of Effingham struck a vehicle driven by 15-year-old Alec Niebrugge of Effingham. Niebrugge's vehicle then jumped the curb and struck and damaged an IDOT crosswalk control post.
Niebrugge and two passengers in his vehicle, 40-year-old Joyce McDonald and eight-year-old Isaac McDonald, both of Effingham, were injured and were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Heuerman was cited for failure to yield.

An Effingham man was injured in a scooter accident Sunday morning.
City police say a scooter operated by 58-year-old Emmett Shelley slid out from under him while he was making a turn. Shelley was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's for treatment.
No tickets were issued.
