Signup for summer sports programs sponsored by the Effingham Park District is right on pace with last year's turnout.

Park District Director Jeff Althoff told Park Board commissioners Wednesday that signup is about 40 participants shy of last year, at about 565, but expects an influx of participants once word gets around at school about the upcoming summer season.  Althoff also said signup for T-ball and Small Fry League is still ongoing.

Althoff also updated park commissioners on capital projects.  He said work is 99% complete on a new pavilion and concession stand on the west side of Community Park near Engbring Street, with dirt work and seeding to be finished.  Althoff said the frame is up on a maintenance shed being built at Evergreen Hollow Park and the roof is on, but the walls still need to be put in place.

Althoff also said the water is on throughout district parks, so the restrooms are now in operation.
