Legislation that will permit children with severe cases of epilepsy to use medical marijuana is advancing to the Illinois House.

The measure passed the Illinois Senate on Wednesday by a 49-5 margin.

The sponsor of the legislation, State Senator Iris Martinez, says the chances of children becoming impaired shouldn't be a concern.  She says the oil portion of the cannabis plant contains little or no THC, which is the element linked to getting high.
