Justin DeRyke has been transferred to Stateville Correctional Center in Stateville, IL, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections website.

DeRyke was convicted on March 18 of killing his niece, 7-year old Willow Long in September of 2013. DeRyke pled guilty and was given life in prison without the possibility of parole.

We spoke with Assistant State's Attorney Scott Ealy Thursday afternoon, who explained why DeRyke's information shows "Sex Offender Registry Required" since there was no conviction or charge of a sexual nature.

Ealy told us, "According to the Judgment signed by Judge Koester on Tuesday, March 18th, Justin DeRyke is required to register under the Illinois Murderer And Violent Offender Against Youth Registration Act, which is very similar to the Sex Offender Registration Act. The Illinois Murderer And Violent Offender Against Youth Registration Act took effect in June of 2006."
