Melly Hofer, the Effingham woman accused of reckless homicide after a crash that killed a Watson teen last year, was in court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing.

Hofer was charged with reckless homicide and driving under the influence of drugs in the crash on south Route 45 near Central School that killed 17-year old Brittany Baker of Watson on the morning of December 5. Hofer was indicted by an Effingham County Grand Jury on February 19.

In court, prosecutors filed a motion seeking Hofer's medical records. Hofer's attorney, Ed Deters, said he plans to file a counter-motion to quash some of the records sought by Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler's office.

Hofer will next be in court on April 24. She remains in jail with a $100,000 bond. Hofer's bond was reduced by half on February 25 from the original bond amount of $200,000.
