Stacy Keyser has been hired by the Cumberland Board of Education as principal at Cumberland Middle School for next year.

Keyser will succeed Kevin Maynard, who is being reassigned to high school principal at Cumberland next year.  Maynard will succeed Todd Butler at the high school.  Butler will become district superintendent next school year.

Also at Cumberland Thursday, the Board employed Lee Walk as middle school assistant boys track coach, and employed Katie Weathers, Jessi Bradley and Sarah Brown as tenured teachers for next year.  Non-tenured teachers hired for next year include Christina Booker, Amy Sandschaefer, Kevin Macha, Kimberly Harper, Wendy Johnson, Tyler Owen, and Tiffany Richter.

Board members employed Tyler Owen full time for next year, granted Jill Mathenia a leave of absence for next year, and accepted the resignation of Justin Wallace as assistant high school basketball coach for next year.

The Cumberland Board approved an alternative education agreement with the Regional Office of Education for next year, and granted the Scholastic Bowl team permission to attend a national tournament in Minneapolis on May 2 and in Rosemont on May 30-June 1.  The squad will not just be watching, they'll be competing in the national tournaments.
