Mattoon Authorities Investigating Home Invasion and Armed Robbery

Mattoon police and Coles County Crimestoppers are requesting the public's assistance in solving a home invasion and armed robbery that occurred Saturday about 6am.

Two white males entered a home in the 200 block of South 30th Street in Mattoon and detained a family inside.  The family was reportedly robbed at gunpoint, and money was taken.

Mattoon police say the family was detained for about 30 minutes.  Authorities say there is no danger to the public.

One suspect is described as approximately six feet tall and weighing 150 to 175 pounds with a large nose and in his late teens or early 20s.  The other is about 5' 10" and weighing 130 to 150 pounds and possibly a teenager.  One suspect had shorter, light brown hair with a bit of a wave to it.  A bald spot was starting on top of his head.
