The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education Tuesday hired William Myers as the next principal of Effingham Junior High School.

The position became available when current junior high principal Jason Fox was named the next Effingham High School principal following Mike McCollum's retirement at the end of this school year.

Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan said, "Mr. Myers has extensive experience in leading a building staff and student body at the junior high level.  His background in curriculum and assessments along with the successful implementation of positive support programs for students will help EJHS continue to move forward."

Myers is presently employed as principal of Moulton Junior High School in Shelbyville.  He is a 1993 Effingham High School graduate, earned advanced educational degrees at Southeast Missouri State University and is presently working on his Doctorate degree through the University of Missouri.  He is the son of Bill and Rosie Myers of Teutopolis.

Doan said Unit 40 will now move forward with filling the junior high assistant principal's position for the coming school year, as Tom Fish is retiring from the post as of the end of this school year.
